What Is The Meaning Of OVERcome?

Bottomline:
Why would Jesus allow the devil to first come become He comes? So that the devil can expend his energy and wear himself out. The come after him. His now overcoming the first coming of the devil. And that is what is called overcome. The word overcome has similarity to words like overwrite, in computer disc operating system, where the data there before give way to the new data. Something has been written earlier, then you overwrite. Just like over rule takes precedence over initial force or word in operation. A word or force came first, another word and power came after to subdue the first. Overrule, overwrite, overpower, we can go on and on.

And that which comes after come to stay to eraze and supecede what came earlier - OVERcome! That is what is meant to overcome. The devil came, Jesus OVERcame. The devil writes, Jesus OVERwrite. Colosians 2:14. Whatever data overwrites erazed and blot out what was written before. A law was in force and ruling before, setting a reccuring pattern. Another law came to OVERrule that law.
And of course it also goes for OVERpower. A power came in force first, be it muscular, martial or spiritual but another stronger and higher came to OVERpower. We can also call it OVERtake. Someone is in the forefront hitherto, another caught with him and OVERtook him and is now in front! Just name any OVER. Same equation apply.

At calvary, the devil came and expended all his energies on Christ. But Jesus waited for him to wear himself out. The Son of God waited for the devil to become a spent force. Then after the devil is spent, worn out and exhausted, Jesus came, dealt a savage and final blow on him and overcame him! Resurrecting the third day to proclaim the victory for who believes in Him, having destroyed him that "before before" has the power of death - the devil.

Ever since, the principle and protocol of victory over the devil is God's allowing him to come first and expend all his energies and wear himself out. Then a blow by the authority and power in The Name of Jesus comes to squash his head and overcome him. Authority is by operation and theory defined as an irresible force backed the power of a state. A 50 tonne lorry carrying a 40 tonne billets of iron stops when a traffics officer weighting 45 kilograms stands and raise his white gloved hands at the driver. What stopped the lorry? Could it be the "heavy" weight of the traffic officer?

Same is what spiritual authority is to a believer to overcome the devil and his angels and and agents, in their names and numbers! An authority backed by The Government and State of The Kingdom of Heaven. An authority vested in the power that is in The Name of Jesus. Therefore whatsover you bind on earth shall be bound Heaven. Your size, height or weight is of no consequence!
What are you going through?
God only allowed the devil to first come, to expend his energy and get exhausted and worn out. After, The Son of God will come to overcome him and destroy his works against you. The power of His resurrection overwrite all the devil's programme in your disc operating system. Thereby giving you a permanent victory. Allelujah!!!

You need Him on your side always to win the battles of life. Because these battles are too real to be denied. And you need somebody like Jesus as a formidable ally. Therefore, surrender your life to Him today. And accept Him as your Master, Lord and Saviour.
