The Vanity Of Iniquity

Words In Season:
"Anything that is not of God and does not have His hand in will never work, and if it seems to work awhile it won't last"
The King's Scribe

Bearing:
“That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?”
Job 20:5

Bottomline:
The story was told of a scorpion and a frog who wanted to cross to the other side of a flooded river one bright afternoon because there was food and safety on the other side.
The scorpion begged the frog to carry him on it's back and ferry him across to the other side. The frog replied the scorpion that won't be a problem as long as the scorpion will not sting him on the way.
"How can I do such a thing knowing that both of us will get drowned?"
This seemingly strong sound reasoning convinced the frog and the deal was struck.
Off they went, the frog swimming and wading through the flooded river, the scorpion on it's back.
The journey progressed until they got to the middle of the river and "pang" the scorpion stung!
Shocked and terrified of imminent drowning, the frog reminded his "friend" with terrified and trembling voice "but you promised not to sting, knowing the implication for both of us.
<> "But I can't help it" was the cruel heartless reply of the scorpion. Which is the truth. The scorpion can't help but sting because that is its nature. Or rather cruelity is in it's nature and DNA.
A nature of wickedness and cruelty!
So many of them abound in our society today whose nature and values are so mean and that they won't go to bed in a day until they see tears in the eyes of their fellowmen as a result of their action or inaction. They can't help it because that is their nature. So why blame them? But just as we understand the end of the story, both the frog and the scorpion perished in that river.
Or who know maybe the frog shook off the ingrate scorpion into the river either out of annoyance or 'everyone for himself' attitude, then managed to swim ashore and received help to neutralise the poison. Either way, the scorpion perished!
Some are workers of iniquity because of wrong choices. Others because of peer pressures and wrong company. Yet others do so because that is their nature, just like the scorpion.
Either ways, the pay day for them is always not a funny day. The wicked will always be at the receiving end at the end of the day. They have sown wickedness; the harvests that await them are sorrows and vanities.
The have sown wind and they can't expect less than whirlwind as harvest.
It may seem a pleasure to them at the onset when they are unleashing their venom, but their laugh is just for a moment. Job said so in chapter 20 verse 5, that their triumph is but for a moment. Such trumph and pleasure won't and will never last.
Evil must one day bow before the good, the wicked at the gate of the righteous.
So why fret yourself because of evil doers, why being envious against the workers of iniquity? Psalm 37:1.
Both their seeming triumphs and that of their cohorts and partners in mischief won't last for ever nor be here for a long time. They shall soon become history altogether. For "they shall soon perish as grass and either as the green herbs" Psalm 37: 1 - 2.
On this truth be comforted and be encouraged if there be any going through any ordeal in their hands - the wicked and workers of iniquity. Let them be rest assured that it won't last, but only for a while. Their seeming triumph is short and their joy is but for a moment.
Nemesis will soon catch up with them and you will laugh last.
It is he that laughs last that laughs best. And the one that that will laugh last and best is certainly not the worker of iniquity. Never!
And the fastest way to fastack nemesis upon the workers of iniquity, so as to short circuit and shorten their triumph to make momentary their joy is to get God on your side and be on His side.
The question being raised now is "who is on The Lord's side?"
You can answer that question on the affirmative today is surrender to Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, believe on Him and accept Him as Lord and Saviour. By so doing, you are now on The Lord's side.
